Crazy, Stupid, Love.

‘If you love her, then go get her back’. 

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a dramedy (comedy + drama), which follows a father whose family life seems to unravel with a marital crisis and consequently, an identity crisis. And there’s a whole lot more that happens. 

A lot of people who watched the movie seemed to sympathize with the father (Steve Carrell) because his wife cheated on him with another man and his grief is blatantly obvious. I mean, if getting out of a moving vehicle when your wife tells you that she wants a divorce isn’t borderline-insanity-grief, I don’t know what is. However, jump off the car or not, I thought he was a complete idiot. 

Grief is a completely legitimate emotion. Betrayal, broken promises, lost love - these are all things that lead us to feel a myriad of ways, but at the core, there’s sadness. We’ve all been there; and if you haven’t, then you will in time, hahaha. 

But to remain in that state of grief is a completely different thing. To sulk - to rot in this cesspool of self-victimhood - I wonder… what good does it do? Are we seeking pity or redemption? 

I don’t mean to sound like some self-righteous guru on the processes of relationships, but throughout my life, I’ve learned that nothing worthwhile comes without a fight. To fight the feelings of self-deprecation and to begin to see the heart of another. To stop pointing fingers and to look into the mirror. To look into the face of betrayal and rejection and fight it with the opposite spirit. Such actions are costly and that makes it worth something. 

I worked on the remix of ‘Without U’ (David Guetta/Usher) with the Endroidz and if you guys pay attention the lyrics at all, the song is about the beginning stages of grief following the loss of a loved one. Up till now, I know that I probably sounded really insensitive, but don’t get me wrong - redemption would not be possible without a past. As such, moving on requires a place from which we move on. 

But yeah, ‘If you love X, then go get X back’. Spoken like a true 13-year old.
