You know that feeling of wanting to get away? The destination has nothing to do with a specific place, but more so a feeling. Specific times and places do come to mind, but only through association with such feelings and/or memories.

For instance, the silence shared between two friends that may be considered ‘awkward’ to outside spectators when in reality, carries much more weight than a full-fledged conversation carried on by others. It’s a place only they know and that no other person can invade. Somewhere only they know.

While recording this song, I actually started tearing up when singing that last chorus. After finishing the cover, I hated it when I listened to it back. Thinking upon why this was, I realized that it had nothing to do with my performance, but because I wanted this song to turn out more than perfect. But things are rarely perfect; and it is in such imperfections that we are made human and that redemption can ever be possible.

Wherever that ‘place’ may be for you and another, cherish it. Protect it. Remember that we are not ‘entitled’ to anything, but that everything - small and big - is a gift. Only then, I think, does that ‘place’ become fully realized.
